Gold is imperishable

Gold is used as jewelry, as an investment or as part of modern technologies. When a gold treasure is found, it is always exciting. Gold, silver and hundreds of coins have just been discovered in the east of the Netherlands, right on the German border. There was also gold jewelry, which is probably worth a considerable amount. They were probably buried as offerings and are around 1300 years old. It was not only Egyptian pharaohs or ancient Greeks who were buried with riches. The treasure that has now been discovered was probably "devil’s money". This is what the Christians later called the pagan offerings. And these offerings were quite common in pagan Germanic countries at the time of the find. Historians value such finds for the stories they tell, for example about trade flows. Investors today, on the other hand, value above all the value-preserving function of gold, its diversification function and the security that gold provides.
The fact that the price of gold has already reached a new record high is partly due to the US customs policy and now Fed Chairman Jerome Powell has also warned of inflation. More than 3,300 US dollars for a troy ounce of gold is a proud price. Calculated in euros, the record price of the precious metal was an unprecedented 2,953 euros. The renowned Silver Institute, for example, is also positive about silver. In 2024, silver recorded a deficit for the fourth year in a row. At the same time, demand for silver from industry reached a new record high for the fourth year in a row. Mining companies with gold and silver in the ground, such as Vizsla Silver or Sierra Madre Gold & Silver, are certainly very pleased with the high gold price.
