The Revolution of Power Distribution – The enwitec CentralConnect 500/800

Problem Statement: Integrating multiple power sources such as photovoltaic systems, battery inverters, and emergency generators into a single system is a complex task. Operators must ensure that all sources and loads are protected by integrated fuses or circuit breakers and that non-critical loads can be prioritized for shutdown at low battery levels. Additionally, the systems must be robust enough to withstand high ambient temperatures and be protected against overvoltage damage.
enwitec’s Solution: The enwitec CentralConnect 500/800 offers a comprehensive solution to these challenges. As the main AC distribution board, it forms the backbone of power distribution and control in large, decentralized off-grid systems. With high-quality components, a well-thought-out overvoltage protection concept, and a central communication control cabinet, the CentralConnect 500/800 ensures maximum availability and safety. It is available in two power classes (500 kW and 800 kW) and three variants to meet the specific requirements of operators.
Interview with Marco Wydrinna, Head of Sales at enwitec:
Good day, Mr. Wydrinna. Thank you for taking the time for this interview. enwitec recently introduced the new CentralConnect 500/800. Can you tell us more about this product?
Marco Wydrinna: With pleasure! The enwitec CentralConnect 500/800 is our latest main AC distribution board, specifically developed for off-grid capable AC-coupled battery inverters. It forms the backbone of power distribution and control in large, decentralized off-grid systems. With this product, we are setting new standards in terms of reliability and flexibility.
What makes the CentralConnect 500/800 so special?
Marco Wydrinna: The CentralConnect 500/800 is a true all-in-one switchgear system. It provides a central point for power distribution and control in off-grid systems. Particularly noteworthy are the central communication control cabinet, the compact design for high ambient temperatures, and the well-thought-out overvoltage protection concept. These features ensure maximum availability and safety.
For which applications is the CentralConnect 500/800 particularly suitable?
Marco Wydrinna: The CentralConnect 500/800 is ideal for large, decentralized off-grid systems in the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and Utility sectors. It is perfect for projects that require reliable and flexible power distribution and control. Our target group primarily includes EPCs (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) and system partners of battery inverter manufacturers.
What technical specifications does the CentralConnect 500/800 offer?
Marco Wydrinna: We offer the CentralConnect 500/800 in two power classes: 500 kW and 800 kW. Each power class is available in three variants, differing in the connection options for battery inverters, emergency generators, and PV systems. For example, the 500 kW class can connect up to 10 battery inverters and one emergency generator with up to 690 kW. The 800 kW class can connect up to 16 battery inverters and one emergency generator with up to 800 kW.
What about the product’s availability?
Marco Wydrinna: The planned sales start is after the completion of the pilot project phase, but definitely still in 2025. We are very confident that the CentralConnect 500/800 will attract great interest and look forward to bringing this innovative product to market.
Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?
Marco Wydrinna: Yes, I would like to emphasize that the CentralConnect 500/800 not only impresses with its technical specifications but also with its user-friendliness and ease of maintenance. With high-quality components and generously dimensioned cable connections, it is easy to install and maintain. At enwitec, we are proud to have developed a product that shapes the future of renewable energy.
